Plan a Scottish Castle Wedding from Abroad. Logie Country House

🏴 Plan a Destination Wedding in Scotland From the USA, Canada or Overseas

Dreaming of travelling to Scotland for your wedding? At Logie Country House, you can bring your closest family and friends together for a relaxed 3-day destination wedding in Scotland with exclusive use of a historic Scottish country house, private ballroom and beautiful Aberdeenshire grounds.

Logie has 18 bedrooms sleeping around 50 guests, an indoor heated swimming pool, two outdoor hot tubs, four kitchens, a cinema room and extensive private grounds overlooking Bennachie. It is particularly well suited to couples travelling from the USA, Canada, Australia and elsewhere overseas, because your wedding becomes several days together in Scotland rather than a few hours at a conventional wedding venue. 🥂

We have welcomed couples and guests from around the world, including the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Brazil, China and countries across Europe.

Planning from North America? Contact Stef and we can arrange a virtual viewing so you can explore Logie without flying to Scotland first.

🏰 A Scottish Destination Wedding That Feels Like a Proper Trip

If your guests are travelling thousands of miles to Scotland, it seems a shame to bring everybody together for just one day.

Our 3-day weddings give you time before and after the wedding itself. Your guests arrive, settle into the house and spend time together before the ceremony, then stay for a relaxed post-wedding day rather than packing their bags the morning after.

For couples searching for a Scottish destination wedding or dreaming of a Scottish castle wedding, Logie offers the atmosphere of a private historic Scottish estate with the practical comforts of a modern wedding venue.

There are open fires, reception rooms, woodland, riverside grounds, Highland cows, a purpose-built ballroom and enough space for everyone to make themselves at home.

💻 Plan Your Scottish Wedding From Anywhere in the World

You do not need to make several trips to Scotland before your wedding.

Our experienced team regularly helps couples plan remotely using video calls, virtual tours, email and trusted local suppliers. Once your wedding is booked, our experienced wedding planners can help guide you through the practical details and introduce you to suppliers who know Logie well.

We can help with recommendations for photographers, florists, celebrants, entertainment, transport and other local suppliers, while our long-standing catering partner, Hudsons Catering, provides the wedding-day catering and bar.

This means you can organise much of your destination wedding in Scotland from home rather than trying to coordinate dozens of unfamiliar suppliers from another country.

🛏️ Keep Your Guests Together in Scotland

One of the biggest advantages of Logie for an overseas wedding is the accommodation.

The main house and courtyard have 18 bedrooms sleeping around 50 guests, including 15 ensuite bedrooms and step-free courtyard accommodation.

Your guests are staying at the wedding venue itself, so there is no nightly migration to different hotels and no arranging taxis for 50 people at the end of the party.

They can wake up together, have breakfast together, use the pool and hot tubs and enjoy the house and grounds throughout the stay.

👀 More Accommodation Planned From September 2027

We are currently in the process of purchasing the beautiful neighbouring Coach House, around a two-minute walk from Logie.

It has 6 bedrooms sleeping an additional 12 guests in standard beds, excluding camp beds and cot beds. Subject to completion of the purchase, we are planning for the Coach House to be available from September 2027.

This could be particularly useful for destination weddings where a larger number of family and friends are travelling to Scotland.

If you are considering a wedding from September 2027 onwards and would be interested in the Coach House, contact Stef and let her know.

✈️ Getting to Logie From the USA, Canada and Overseas

Logie Country House is in Aberdeenshire in the north-east of Scotland, approximately 25 minutes from Aberdeen International Airport.

Aberdeen connects through major UK and European airports, making the final part of an international journey relatively straightforward. Guests can also fly into other Scottish airports and make Logie part of a longer trip around Scotland.

For many overseas guests, the wedding becomes part of the holiday rather than the whole trip. They can combine their time at Logie with castles, whisky distilleries, Scottish countryside, cities and the Highlands before or after the wedding.

We can also recommend local transport and accommodation for guests who are not staying in the house.

🐮 Give Your Guests the Scotland They Came For

There is little point flying everyone across the Atlantic and then giving them something that could have happened in a hotel back home.

At Logie, your guests can experience a private Scottish country house, riverside and woodland grounds, views towards Bennachie and our Highland cows — who have become fairly experienced wedding-photo models. 🐮📷

You can also build Scottish touches into the celebration with a piper, ceilidh, local food and drink or simply an afternoon exploring the countryside.

💍 Where Can You Get Married at Logie?

Your ceremony can take place indoors or outdoors, depending on what you would like and, occasionally, what the Scottish weather has decided. 😄

Options include the courtyard, ballroom, lawns and woodland, with plenty of other beautiful areas around the grounds for photographs.

Our purpose-built ballroom accommodates up to 160 day guests and is air-conditioned and soundproofed, with the bar and dance floor in the same room.

So whether you are planning a smaller destination wedding or bringing a much larger group to Scotland, the celebration can remain entirely private.

📜 Can Americans and Canadians Get Married in Scotland?

Yes. You do not have to live in the UK to get married in Scotland, but there are legal forms, documents and potentially immigration requirements to deal with before the ceremony.

Both parties normally submit a marriage notice to the registrar. The registrar must receive the completed notices at least 29 days before the wedding, although National Records of Scotland recommends allowing around 10 to 12 weeks so that documents can be checked properly.

If you live outside the UK or are a non-UK national, additional documentation may be required. Depending on your circumstances this can include evidence that there is no legal impediment to your marriage, and immigration or visa requirements can also apply.

Because individual circumstances differ, do not rely on a wedding venue or website for legal advice. Check your requirements directly with the registrar and the official Scottish guidance well in advance.

🌙 Arriving From Overseas? Add the Evening Before

For international weddings, arriving at the venue with a little more time can make a lot of sense.

You can add the evening before your normal check-in, giving the guests staying at Logie another night together before the main 3-day celebration begins.

An earlier-access option to the drawing and dining rooms is also available.

💷 What Does a Destination Wedding at Logie Cost?

Our venue prices vary depending on the time of year and whether you choose a midweek or weekend wedding.

The simplest way to understand the cost is to use our pricing information and wedding cost estimator rather than trying to compare Logie with a one-day hotel package.

Remember that around 50 guests can stay at the venue itself and many couples ask those guests to contribute towards their accommodation. The estimator allows you to see how guest contributions affect your overall wedding cost.

💌 Start Planning Your Destination Wedding in Scotland

If you are planning from the USA, Canada, Australia or anywhere else overseas, you do not need to have everything worked out before getting in touch.

Start with the important things: your approximate date, guest numbers and whether you would like a 3-day wedding. We can take it from there.

A destination wedding at Logie gives your guests a reason to travel to Scotland for something much bigger than a single wedding day — a private house, several days together and a Scottish experience they are unlikely to forget.
