LOGIE COUNTRY HOUSE - WELCOME
Welcome to the ancient and historic Logie Elphinstone House, luxury holiday let, set within its own private estate at the foot of Bennachie. Turrets and a courtyard conjure up a true feeling of romance and tranquility.
Logie Elphinstone House is 17 miles to the west of Aberdeen, near the Royal Burgh of Inverurie and was built in the 1670s on estate lands purchased by Laurence Elphinstone in 1492. Originally a fortified tower house, extensive modifications took place during the 18th century, to give the magnificent house you see today.
The south facing lawns to the front of the house, run down to the banks of the river Urie and a private island, reached by foot bridge. To the west of the house are ancient woodlands and Pictish standing stones, dating back some three thousand years. The estate has miles of walks and tracks for cycling and riding, trout and salmon fishing and there are many tourist attractions nearby.
We are very happy to be able to welcome guests to the 5 star luxury holiday let, five bedroomed guest wing, offering unrivalled child and pet friendly holiday accommodation on a serviced, fully catered or self catering basis. There is a Jacuzzi outside, a well equipped gym and guests have the use of our 9 meter indoor infinity pool in the main house.
We also offer a unique wedding venue in the main house or marquee on the lawn (from 2013), a livery yard with amazing hacking and spectacular new Tibetan Yurts set in a wildflower meadow for glamping holidays.
The original fortified tower house was built in the 1670s. The house was extensively modified and extended over the next 100 years. In it heyday, it was the center piece of a 7,428 acre estate. Today it sits in a more modest 140 acre estate.
We are pleased to be able to offer the newly refurbished guest wing of the house for holiday accommodation. Facing south over the courtyard, the self contained guest wing is joined to the main house by the tower. It has two master bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms and king size beds. There are also two generous single and one twin bedroom. The family bathroom has a walk-in shower and large freestanding bath. Downstairs the comfortable lounge has a wood burning stove and 42” plasma TV with SKY+ HD. The fully fitted, open plan kitchen-dining room has all mod cons, including dishwasher and fridge freezer and the utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside is a new Jacuzzi. There is a well equipped gym in the old game store off the courtyard. Guests also have the use of our 9 meter infinity pool in the main house.
The courtyard is a sheltered oasis of tranquillity. Split into two, the inner courtyard is grassed and surrounded by pots of herbs and plants. A rose arch takes you to the outer flagstoned courtyard. which is bordered by deep beds of flowers and plants, specially selected for their scent and colour. During the summer, the courtyard hums with bumble bees and butterflies provide hours of hypnotic entertainment.
We have chairs and tables for eating out and benches to relax and soak up the sun. A large under cover gas barbeque ensures that outdoor cooking is always available, whatever the weather.
Logie Estate offers excellent livery, with miles of off road hacks, canter tracks, cross country jumps, gallops, woods, an outdoor rubber-crumb, sheltered, floodlit school, 45 acres of top quality grazing and a further 100 acres of private fields and woods. We have four stables right next to the main house and a further 10 being built in the Autumn 2012. We have a wide range of packages from grazing to full livery.
We are also happy to accomodate guests, with their horses too.
Logie Country House is set in 140 acres of woodland, gardens and fields. The house itself sits on the banks of the river Urie. The south facing lawn leads down to the river and a private island, which is shaded by mature trees and shared with some otters.
Across the Urie is Bennachie, at 518 meters high, a popular destination for walkers. Many believe that the peak, Mither Tap, had religious significance to the Bronze Age people who inhabited this area.
To the west of the house is an ancient woodland with three Pictish standing stones. The woods are carpeted with snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells in the spring and are home to several red squirrels and roe deer.
Further away from the house, we have sown a wildflower meadow and installed some 20' Tibetan Yurts for glampers. The well equipped Yurts will comfortably sleep four people and each have their own proper toilet & hot shower.
Logie Country House is seventeen miles West of Aberdeen, between Inverurie and Huntly. The estate has miles of walks and cycle rides. There are great bridleways leading from the house. We are building a sand paddock and cross country course in the autumn. The river Urie runs through the grounds and is renown for salmon and trout fishing. We have a clay pigeon ground in the woods and storage for shotguns in the main house. There is a climbing frame, trampoline and swing for children, as well as our tame free range chickens. You are welcome to bring your dogs or horses.
There are eight publicly accessible golf courses within ten miles of the estate, offering golfers a wide choice of greens. Once you have finished your golf, there are a number of distilleries to visit too.
Aberdeen is a 20 minute train ride away and skiing & hill walking are not too far away, through stunning scenery.
